I immigrated to Canada from Belfast, Northern Ireland in 1981. At that time, I began my apprenticeship as a ship fitter at a local shipyard and was employed by them for 15 years. After which time, Mr Tom Ferns and myself formed our company, Meridian Marine Industries Inc., in October 1996. My responsibilities as a Ship Repair Superintendent include liaising with vessel owners/managers to establish repair procedures, estimating, quality control, procurement and coordinating repairs to accommodate vessel schedules.
